I'm still not convinced that John McCain has a legitimate claim to be running as a United States Presidential Candidate. Mitt Romney challenged him on his citizenship status and the Democrat nominee will too. Read the following articles: John McCain- Is He An American Citizen Eligible For Office Of President? and "No person except a natural born citizen shall be eligible to the office of President"John McCain was born August 29, 1936 in Panama Also. blogger "JJ" #16's entry, draws the two comparisons together and finishes the argument with facts.

This is not an issue now but it will be a huge issue if McCain tries to take office. He will be challenged, and so far all the evidence points to the GOP and McCain losing this argument, and the election.

The Constitution doesn’t say that you have to be a citizen, it says you have to be a natural-born citizen, and that means your citizenship in this country must be derived purely from your birth, and not from any legislation or naturalization. Citizens born in territories get their citizenship from legislation. Citizens born in military hospitals in foreign bases are not, repeat, _not_ natural born citizens. Children born in foreign countries can claim citizenship through legislation. It is not automatic.

From the State Dept web site:
a. A U.S.-registered or documented ship on the high seas or in the exclusive economic zone is not considered to be part of the United States. A child born on such a vessel does not acquire U.S. citizenship by reason of the place of birth - Lam Mow v. Nagle, 24 F.2d 316, 9th Cir., 1928.

b. A U.S.-registered aircraft outside U.S. airspace is not considered to be part of U.S. territory. A child born on such an aircraft outside U.S. airspace does not acquire U.S. citizenship by reason of the place of birth.

c. Despite widespread popular belief, U.S. military installations abroad and U.S. diplomatic or consular facilities are __not part of the United States within the meaning of the 14th Amendment__. A child born on the premises of such a facility is not subject to the jurisdiction of the United States and __does not acquire U.S. citizenship by reason of birth__.

Children born in foreign countries on land currently being used by the US government or military are not natural-born citizens. The argument bears plenty of weight and you can rest assured it will be brought up in the courts. The Panama Canal Zone was never a territory of the US — it was leased land. That you rent something does not make it yours, you should know that by now. The exact text of the treaty:

“The Republic of Panama grants to the United States all the rights, power and authority within the zone mentioned and described in Article II of this agreement, and within the limits of all auxiliary lands and waters mentioned and described in said Article II which the United States would possess and exercise, __if it were the sovereign of the territory__ within which said lands and waters are located to the entire exclusion of the exercise by the Republic of Panama of any such sovereign rights, power or authority.”

Not only does the treat explicitly say that the US is not the sovereign of the land in which the Zone is located, it explicitly says that it only grants the rights as “if it were the sovereign”.
In 1906, Pres. Theodore Roosevelt explicitly declared that there was never any intent of creating a sovereign territory of the United States in the Canal Zone, only a tract of the land owned by Panama and managed by the United States __as if it were a territory__.

You can’t even use as an argument the 1790 law that declares children born of US citizens overseas as natural-born citizens, because the Supreme Court decision that validated that, Dred Scott, was struck down. The law of the land as it stands now is the 14th Amendment, which specifically makes a distinction between people born in the United States, and everyone else, considered citizens by naturalization, automatic or otherwise.

Do republicans want to continue to support a candidate who has a 99.999% chance of being prohibited from taking the oath and becoming president because he is not a natural-born citizen? This is no different than Arnold’s case. He is not a natural-born citizen, and neither is McCain. It is _that_ simple. Proceed at your own peril, republicans. You already stand a pisspoor chance of winning the election — this won’t help you one bit.

John McCain has refused to open his POW documents to prove or disprove this question of citizenship and will have a hard time explaining this without the facts.

John McCain keeps saying he’s learned his lesson. He says we need to secure our southern border while at the same time saying he would definitely sign the McCain/Kennedy Amnesty bill. He defends his Hispanic Outreach Director - Juan Hernandez who previously was in the administration of President Vicente Fox of Mexico. In working with Fox Hernandez traveled the US lobbying to extend drivers licenses to illegal aliens, lower rates for illegal aliens to transfer funds to Mexico and actively advocated for open borders. He calls the US, Canada and Mexico a “bloc”, not a region, not a continent , it’s a “bloc”. As in the North American Union maybe? Hernandez is also listed as a Senior Fellow with McCain’s “Reform Institute“. This is McCain’s non-profit organization that was used to push for the McCain/Feingold restriction of free speech bill. The Reform Institute has also been supported by George Soros. Yes, this is the same George Soros who works so hard and invests millions to bring socialism and/or communism to the US. Soros supports every left wing loony group that’s out there so it really is a natural connection for Soros to also support McCain’s Reform Institute.
McCain also has on his campaign Mr. Jerry Perenchio as a National Campaign Co-Chair. Who is this Perenchio - he’s the CEO and owner of Univision, the Spanish media network. He also will sell out his country to make a buck. His agenda is to grow his media network and that means bringing in as many illegal aliens as possible who won’t learn the language and will continue to watch his media empire. Perenchio also worked diligently and spent millions to bring down the California initiative which ended bilingual education.

Huckabee's Supporters Hold The GOLDEN EGG - McCain wants it!

Senator McCain knows that he cannot win without the conservative base even if it comes down to him and either of the democrats. Gov. Huckabee won hands-down on Super Tuesday as far as the conservative base was concerned. Let's entertain the possible scenarios for the General Election this November: 1) stay at home and eat cookies, 2) hold your nose and vote for McCain to keep OBAMA from being in the White House, or 3) vote for a third party.

Option number one does not sound like me because right now I care to much for what happens to my country. Regarding number two, there is no difference between McCain, Hillary or Obama. You can slice, dice and julienne their positions but there is little to none. Number three is not an option, it only dilutes the republican party even more. We are diluted enough.

Before the towel gets thrown in, let's remember that Gov. Huckabee has outlasted many before him in this race. Gov. Huckabee's conservative base holds the GOLDEN EGG that the goose hasn't laid yet. Senator McCain hasn't won yet. He doesn't have the delegate count to put him over the top, even if Romney releases his delegates and McCain does eventually get enough, HE LOSES BECAUSE THE GOLDEN EGG WILL NOT SUPPORT HIM.

What single issue would cause you to vote for McCain as a representative of the republican party? Pro-life, terrorism, FairTax, etc, etc. The conservative base will never support him because he is not a conservative.

Now is the time for the voting voice of the conservative base - the GOLDEN EGG - to speak up! Right now, get involved, make calls focused on those next primary states and tell the voters to vote Mike Huckabee in their state. There is much on the line considering the alternative. Get involved by calling the media and supporting Gov. Huckabee. If it's a single issue that concerns you then speak out regarding that issue. Let your voices be heard.

Voter-Based Reality:Reflections on Super Tuesday

During this election cycle we've been exposed to two contrapositive perceptions: pundit-based reality and voter-based reality.

Pundit-based reality is the political simulacra created by the bloggers, journalists, radio talk show hosts, and other confident opiners who understand how the world should work. Voter-based reality is the messy electoral aftermath that occurs after voters cast their ballots and show us how the world actually works. For the past few months we've been living in the pristine bubble of pundit-based reality only to have it popped by the inexplicable actions of the Voter Class.

Here are some of the lessons we learned on Super Tuesday:
Pundit-based reality: Huckabee is stealing votes from Romney.Voter-based reality: Huckabee is competing for votes with McCain.

In the latest USA Today/Gallup poll Huckabee supporters were asked for whom they would vote if the race came down to John McCain or Mitt Romney.

The results showed that McCain wins over Romney as the second choice of Huckabee voters by more than a 2 to 1 margin, 64% to 28%. McCain beats Romney 42% to 24% with Huckabee in the race (Huckabee gets 18% of the vote) and expands that margin to 53% to 30% with Huckabee voters forced to choose between the two candidates.

A more likely scenario is that Romney's continued presence in the race siphoned off votes and support for Huckabee.

Pundit-based reality: Romney is a full-spectrum conservative; he is the only one that can bring together the "Reagan coalition."Voter-based reality: Romney is a poor-man's Michael Bloomberg; he never had a legitimate shot at the nomination.

Out of the six states that Romney won, four were caucuses (MN, ND, CO, MT) that were largely uncontested and favored the candidate with a strong organizational structure. The only primary states Romney was able to win were the ones in which he has previously resided – UT and MA. (The only other primary state that he won before Super Tuesday was another state where he lived – MI.) In other words, Romney can win if he can pay to organize party volunteers at a rally. What he can't seem to do is convince people to go to the polling booth and actually cast a ballot for him.

Without the ability to self-finance his campaign, we would now be referring to Romney as the CINO (conservative in name only) who washed out in Iowa. Sadly, he'll continue on despite the fact that his base of support consists of Mormons, talk radio hosts, and people who really, really, hate McCain.

Pundit-based reality: A McCain-Huckabee ticket would be unacceptable to the party. Voter-based reality: The majority of GOP voters would be fine with a McCain-Huckabee ticket.
Can anyone explain why a ticket comprised of the two candidates that will win/have won the most delegates, as chosen by Republican voters, is considered an unacceptable option for… Republican voters? Are the pundits unaware that the GOP voters that vote in the primaries are the same GOP voters that vote in the general election?

Pundit-based reality: Rush Limbaugh's opinion carries a great deal of weight.Voter-based reality: Thanks, but we can think for ourselves.

Adding to his recent string of embarrassments, Rush Limbaugh made the unforced error of endorsing Mitt Romney. If El Rushbo truly believes that Romney "is a candidate on our side who does embody all three legs of the conservative stool" then he needs to hang up his Golden Microphone, for he has lost all sense of discernment. I truly don't think Rush is dumb enough to believe that is true. So why does he think that we voters are dumb enough to believe it just because we hear it proclaimed on our AM radios?

What has happened to Rush? The reason he was once entertaining is because he'd tell us "Dittoheads" what we already knew was true (e.g., liberal are silly). That was his shtick and he did it well. But somewhere along the way he started taking himself too seriously. He seems to think that he is the adjudicator of who and what is considered to be "conservative." For him to give the impression that he is some sort of thought leader is both mildly amusing and moderately insulting. His primary audience is conservatives, a group that doesn’t take its guidance on how to vote from entertainers (and yes, Rush is first and foremost, an entertainer).
As a pundit I understand that having 12 million listeners per week is reason to be in awe of Rush. But as a voter that doesn't impress me much. If I need someone with a large audience to tell me how to vote I'll turn to Wolf from American Gladiators.

Pundit-based reality: McCain will destroy the GOP.Voter-based reality: McCain is the leading choice for a majority of the GOP.

Listen, McCain is not my first choice. But he appears to be the inevitable choice of our party. If he's nominated I'll vote for him for the simple fact that his is far better than Obama or Clinton. If you disagree, then quietly vote for the third party candidate of your choice. But for heaven's sakes, stop whining, stop hyperventilating, and stop all the hyperbolic, Tony-award worthy dramatics. It's unbecoming.

The animosity toward McCain is even more bizarre when you consider that he's not that different than the other "acceptable" candidates. Fred Thompson co-sponsored McCain-Feingold and no one accused him of tearing up the 1st Amendment. Romney was for abortion, amnesty, and an assault weapons ban until--what, last week?--and no one seems to hold that against him. And Giuliani, a candidate that really would have rent the party in two, was once touted as the only alternative to Hillary the Inevitable.

Now, McCain is considered to be less acceptable than Hillary. I don’t get that at all. The Coulter-Clinton-Buchanan Axis is not in the best interest of the party, our movement, or our nation.
It's time we gain some perspective. As Daniel Patrick Moynihan once said, "Everyone is entitled to his own opinion, but not his own facts." The voters have presented us with facts that we can no longer deny. It's time for us to to face up to our situation and stop living in the fantasy realm of a pundit-based reality.

A Vote For Huckabee Is A Vote For The FairTax

The media suggests that the only people supporting Gov. Huckabee are the "evangelicals". I know this is certainly a strong base for Huckabee, but it is certainly not the only demographic voting for him. Although I consider myself an evangelical, that is not the reason I support Huckabee. I was an evangelical when Carter ran, and I would never support him for local dog-catcher, much less President.

Why is it that Romney spent 20 times as much money as Huckabee, yet they are neck-and-neck in the race? It is because voters supporting Huckabee DO THEIR RESEARCH. They know about the issues and are not swayed by the money thrown at them in the form of lame commercials or 30-second sound bytes. They are not swayed by people like Hannity that have sold out their principles just to eke out a win for "our team".

The main reason I support Huckabee is the FairTax. This single piece of legislation will have historic positive changes for our country in so many ways that almost every person that I have explained it to is overwhelmingly for it.

Not only the Democrats, but the Republican establishment is scared to death of FairTax because it puts control back in the hands of "We the People" instead of "the politicians and lobbyists". Perish the thought...

Why I'm Voting For Mike Huckabee

My father lived to be eighty-three. My mother lived to be seventy-three. I consider that a long life. There were three of us kids who grew up in a rural town in Alabama during the hot days of summer, picking vegetables from the garden and playing in a neighborhood with no worries or cares. We knew everyone personally on our street and most people down the road for miles and up the road for miles.
My father worked in a steel mill for forty years driving eighty miles a day to support his family. He was in World War II and fought overseas. My mother helped my father by keeping up with us kids while he worked. She herself grew up with eleven other siblings and cared for a dying mother.

After a long day at the steel mill, my father would come home only to toil at cutting grass or tending to the garden of peas, corn, potatoes and okra so that my mother, me and my siblings could have food for the winter. We knew at an early age there would be good times and hard times.

In the south, I believe even today, we still learn a lot of lifes' lessons and for my father and mothers' example of hard work, being simple people and loving the things that were dealt them in life, I memorialize and honor them today and VOTE for Mike Huckabee. My mother and father live on in me and my children. When I compare Mike Huckabee's values and integrity, his are like mine and my mother and fathers.

Huckabee, while visiting our state, announced in Tuscaloosa, that he had signed Senator Sessions' immigration plan and offered up his own plan for supporters once again to read. Senator Sessions sees and knows the kinds of problems we face not only in Alabama with over crowded classrooms, and the tax burden on our economic system but all over the country.

Like Gov. Huckabee, Senator Sessions gets it and wants to do the right thing regarding these twenty million visitors.
Let us now ask Senator Sessions to join us by publically endorsing Govenor Mike Huckabee for 2008 GOP Presidential nominee in Alabama. IT's the RIGHT THING to do.

Presidential Primaries Still Wide Open

John McCain won the Florida Primary and every left-wing RINO (Republican in Name Only) politician is rushing to endorse him. Rudy Giuliani, whose defeat was entirely predictable, given his liberal views on social issues and personal peccadilloes, rushed to endorse him. Yesterday, McCain received the embrace of none other than Governor Arnold Scwarzenegger of California, another pro-abortion, liberal Democrat-in-Republican clothes. The liberal Rockefeller wing of the Republican Party is reveling in what they see as their return to control of the Republican Party.

They should think again. Republicans can't win without the pro-life, pro-family coalition within the Republican Party. So, while they may temporarily regain the advantage in the Republican Party, the Party may very well lose the political power it has gained over the past 27 years by virtue of the successful conservative coalition forged by Ronald Wilson Reagan. If he should win the nomination, John McCain can't win the General Election without that intact coalition and its enthusiastic support.

Neither can Mitt Romney, who, had he come in first in Florida, would now be the darling of the liberal Republican establishment. His style differs from McCain's, and his patrician bearing and manner are less appealing to Democrats and Independents who are largely responsible for McCain's successes thus far. But his record as Governor of Massachusetts is not a conservative one and he is distrusted by many in the conservative coalition.

From a pro-life perspective, neither man is pro-life. McCain's voting record reflects the recognition that some restriction and/or regulation of abortion is acceptable. But, the fact that he supports killing human embryos for research, and voted to increase taxpayer funding for it, is about as far from a pro-life position as one can get. Mitt Romney also supports research on human embryos who are "left over" from in vitro fertilization procedures, as long as the adoption option has been covered and parents give their consent to have their children killed for science. Of course, Romney's record as a strong supporter of the "right" to abortion cannot be forgotten.

The goal of the pro-life movement is to achieve an end to legal abortion by establishing in law the personhood of the human being from the moment of conception/fertilization. The measure of respect a candidate gives to the status of the tiniest embryonic human being determines whether he is "pro-life." Both McCain and Romney fail that test.

Mike Huckabee, who is pro-life and does want legal abortion to end in this country, pledges to carry on his campaign, despite what now appear to be overwhelming odds against his winning. However, the possibility exists that Huckabee could garner enough Delegates in the up-coming Super Tuesday Primaries on February 5 to deny McCain or Romney the sufficient number they would need to secure the nomination prior to the National Convention. If that happens, Huckabee would go to St. Paul, MN, the site of the 2008 Republican National Convention, as a power broker. The other two men, coveting the Huckabee Delegates to put them over the top, would have to deal with Huckabee, who could, in return for releasing his Delegates, extract concessions on policy and commitments on a myriad of things that would evoke avid speculation.

Ron Paul is expected to remain in the race, although his performance up to now makes it doubtful that he could secure enough Delegates to remain a player in an open convention.

Never forget that YOU were once an embryo.

Was Congressman Spencer Bachus Crying Saturday?

No, he wasn't crying at the McCain rally in downtown Birmingham, Alabama Saturday. Maybe the nervousness in his voice was saying, 'Oh boy will Alabama voters be surprised! They have no idea that I've not only been a close friend of McCain's but an intregal part of this campaign.'
You can add these to the list of Alabama McCain help, Attorney General, Troy King, he's the State Chair along with State Representative Mike Hill, Co-Chair - Shelby County GOP Chair Matt Fridy, Cam Ward and many others.

Congressman Spencer Bachus of Alabama's Sixth Congressonional District supports Senator McCain's values of higher taxes, allowing illegal aliens to take jobs from Alabamians which places a huge burden on our schools in Shelby County and all over the state. If you don't believe me, ask any teacher. Now go figure.

Congressman Bachus has signed on to the FairTax but looks the other way in support of a candidate who voted not once but twice to KILL the Bush tax cuts? My friends, you may hate Bush but those tax cuts were for me and my family. Supporters, what makes you think that he will support tax cuts in the future?

What about the abortion issue? Senator McCain has failed at that and what about so many of the other issues that Southern and American Conservatives hold dearly? Are we to join this kind of liberal thinking and give up everything that we are? It's not what he says, but his actions.

What's happened to our elected officials? Has power superseded values and integrity? Mark Levine has said it best and I'm NOT a fan of Mark Levine but McCain supporters come down off your high and read his article.

My Five Smooth Stones

We are in this race to win despite the desperate efforts by the Romney campaign to try and say that "a vote for me is a vote for McCain". Actually, a vote for me is a vote for me!
We have outlasted Rudy, Fred, and others who were supposed to be the winners. Only 8% of the Republican delegates have been selected, and we have about the same number of delegates as McCain or Romney. We are in it to win.
The Romney campaign knows this and they are running scared.
So far the media has with a few exceptions, been content to sell this sham of a story to their viewers and listeners. You would think that under this coordinated assault, we would be sinking in the polls nationally.
Not so. FOX News has us tied with Gov. Romney in 2nd place nationally in a new poll of registered voters.
What's more, in Tennessee, Georgia, Missouri, Alabama, Arkansas and Oklahoma, recent polls have us in first or tied for first.
We can win. We will win.

Did you watch the most recent GOP debate? I mean the 'cat fight' between McCain and Romney? You may not have realized it but Gov. Mike Huckabee and Congressman Paul were sitting there to. They were knowingly seated in an arrangement to envoke the most tension between two of the candidates and the other two were being snubbed as supposedly lesser candidates. What was demonstated by the media that night, should be a wake up call to all Americans. This not only affects the conservative side of the party but the entire party. It shows the direction our party is going and how the media is negatively affecting our election process. At this point in the election, it's not about winning states it's about gathering delegates but you would never know that from the media. Regardless of how they arranged them in the debate, it backfired once again! Gov. Huckabee came through with flying colors and scored A++.

Now, media mogul Tim Russert has scheduled another debate on Sunday before Super Tuesday but he has offered it only to McCain and Romney.

Sorry Senator McCain, you won't have enough delegates after Super Tuesday to claim victory and neither will Gov. Romney. I contest that you won't blink but Gov. Romney having to reach into his kids' inheritance money pot will cause him to. The only Governor left will be Gov. Huckabee. Who will Romney's support go to then? Will he blink? Then it will really be down to a two man race. Establishment VS. The Common Man.

Amnesty. Who Looses? Who Wins?

The estimated twelve million hispanic and canadian visitors to our country have the most to loose in our next Presidential election but not necessary. Why? Let's look at a couple of things.

The democratic party has already been vying for these 12 million new voters. They know that in appealing to them and supporting amnesty, they get full political power not only over these new comers but they get it in elections to come. Well, that's a good prize but where does that truly leave these who are coming to our country to better themselves and get ahead. It introduces them to a party that says, I don't really want you here but I'll let you in, if you give me your vote. It also allows the democratic party to socially engineer these people the way they wish too. That's all well and good, but it's not allowing them be introduced into our system in the best possible way. It's not saying, let's do it the fair way, the right way and a way that tells them to hold your heads up.

Some in the republican party have said, there is a better way. Neither party has denied not wanting 12 million new voters to their party, but one has specifically said, if you want legalization, then you will have to go about it the right way.

I believe Gov. Mike Huckabee's PLAN is a fair and doable plan for getting everyone the resolve we need:

1. Build the fence
2. Increase Border Patrol
3. Prevent Amnesty
4. Enforce the Law on Employers
5. Establish an Economic Border
6. Empower Local Authorities
7. Ensure Document Security
8. Discourage Dual Citizenship
9. Modernize the Process of Legal Immigration

Others in the Republican Party, such as McCain, have precariously said otherwise. He has gambled on the amnesty idea last year by saddling up with liberal-democrat Ted Kennedy and trying to get McCain/Kennedy Amnesty Bill through. I believe it was a calculated risk and that McCain knew that true conservatives would call Washington and vehemently say, "NO!" Conservatives did and said NO still after, 3 times. McCain explains now that he's learned his lesson. I don't believe it. He did it to get it out there to all those on the pro-amnesty side to say, vote for McCain he tried to get amnesty through. To the opposition, he did it to get it out there to say, vote for McCain, he tried to get amnesty through but now he says, "I've learned by lesson." It's confusing, What does he really believe? I think I know.

Mike Huckabee has an excellent 9 point plan that is fair, equitable and doable to pro-amnesty and those not for amnesty. Read it. Tell all your friends that are concerned about the amnesty issue.

You Can't Have It Both Ways !

As Hillary Clinton's and John McCain's poll numbers slowly rise this week, the stock market goes down as FoxNews reported this morning. Is this a forecast indication that we will be looking at a poor economic future with either one of these candidates in the oval office? With a Clinton or McCain in the White House, it is a guarantee that taxes will go up. We already know that Mrs. Clinton, being a democrat, will raise taxes and we know that McCain voted 'NO' on two tax cut bills. He had an opportunity to give back our money but chose not too. Are you paying enough in taxes? Well you're in luck, McCain's record proves that he WILL raise them, regardless of how strong his credentials are ON THE WAR. Huckabee and Romney have taken the pledge to NOT raise Taxes. McCain refuses too.

According to Mark R. Levin's article: The Real McCain Record in the National Review Online. The article lists the bills that came up for vote that would have killed free speech, allowed amnesty and raised taxes. It compares McCain with the most liberal thinkers in America.

The Article indicates:

"McCain-Feingold — the most brazen frontal assault on political speech since Buckley v. Valeo.
McCain-Kennedy — the most far-reaching amnesty program in American history.
McCain-Lieberman — the most onerous and intrusive attack on American industry — through reporting, regulating, and taxing authority of greenhouse gases — in American history.
McCain-Kennedy-Edwards — the biggest boon to the trial bar since the tobacco settlement, under the rubric of a patients’ bill of rights.
McCain-Reimportantion of Drugs — a significant blow to pharmaceutical research and development, not to mention consumer safety................."

There is a reason that our elected representatives have a record low 11% confidence rating by the American people. It's because they don't get the important things done. They are in office for political gain, special interest and keeping the status quo in Washington. They've never run a business, a city or state. They have worked at spending our tax dollars, wastefully and irresponsibly. They've failed. I'm surely not going to reward him with my vote.

Senator McCain right now is appealing to the undecided voter. Didn't we hear John Kerry in the 2004 election say, "I voted for the war, only before I voted against it." He was masterful at telling the undecided voter exactly what they wanted to hear. Supposedly, being undecided means that you haven't made up your mind yet. I contend no matter what party you aspire too or if you're undecided or not, Senator McCain will tell you what you want to hear. If you say you like the color red, he will say, I like red. If you say you like the color, blue, then he will say, I absolutely adore blue. If you tell him his record says he cut taxes, he will tell you, I cut taxes, only before I raised them."

If you're curious, that's fine. Do the research. Seek out 2 or 3 credible sources. Talk to 2 or 3 different candidate preferences. Look over candidates websites on issues. Being curious is natural but being for all sides of the issue is not. McCain is an anomaly as shown in the climb in the polls but I contend that like a two headed snake that when it smells the scent of prey on it's other head, will attack itself.

Big Government imposing regulations and controlling our personal lives are all social-liberal democratic philosophies. The problems that we face today can all be laid at this socialistic/liberal ideology. McCain's voting record speaks volumes. You can't have it both ways and be a true conservative. Vote Mike, I like him.

Democrats Get It in Michigan and support Mike Huckabee

Mr. Lamar Lemmons, a Democrat in Michigan, on Fox News this morning said he has a blog called: Democrats For Huckabee and is encouraging all Democrats to Vote for Mike Huckabee.

Mr. Lemmons indicated that he "believe(s) Huckabee is the best Republicans have to offer."

Lemmons went on to say, "Romney and McCain are supported by the Republican establishment here in the state of Michigan," Lemmons said. "We thought, well, if the establishment is with Romney and McCain, we should be for Huckabee."

"Actually, I think he(Gov. Huckabee) is a genuine individual," said LaMar Lemons in a television interview by Fox News. "He reminds me of Gomer Pyle."

In the south, especially Alabama we take that as a compliment because not only was Jim Nabors "Gomer Pyle" in the television hit series in the 1960's "Andy Griffith", but he was a native of Sylacauga, Alabama. He was in the U.S. Marine Corps and a successful actor-singer.

Hats off to Mr. Lemmons and give him credit where credit is due. He gets it.

Let's all blog it and get Michigan Democrats votes for Huckabee. It's an Open Primary in Michigan which means the Democrats can vote for MIKE Huckabee and the winner takes all the delegates.

Let's look inside the "Kristol" Ball-New Hampshire

We are on the eve of the New Hampshire primaries which is the first in a series that will be occurring soon. Unlike the Iowa Caucuses, we might not really have a good handle on who will win, who will come in second or who will be third. The media darlings and polls say this and that but the voters are the key in deciding the mood of the country. I have said all along that in the primaries we are really selecting our president during this time and that is why the primaries are so important where many simply discount that the event even matters.

Iowans got it. Writer, Bill Kristol, has written a piece about the Iowa Caucus and the two candidates that jumped out ahead in their perpective parties and why. Read his complete article in the New York Times. Though it's a well written and easy read, I will attempt to summarize it in my Southern American terms.

The spot light coming out of the Iowa Caucus has been on Governor Mike Huckabee and Senator Barack Obama. These two men were selected because Americans on both sides of the aisle are tired of the same old, same old. Those who are in power and have been in power have brought us nearly to our knees. We have experienced, high taxes, not being able to save like a generation ago and getting ahead, high healthcare costs, open borders, an influx of illegals, ineffective representatives, PORK spending, pushing bills through the congress and senate only after saying, no, No, NO!

If these two candidates continue on and become their parties nomination, then we will hear the "Why". Right now, we are seeing them as being juxaposed. It would be like looking into a mirror and seeing the same but representing two totally different philosophies. Kristol begins by saying that Mike Huckabee "began by calmly mentioning his and Obama’s contrasting views on issues from guns to life to same-sex marriage."

"Huckabee went on to pay tribute to Obama for his ability 'to touch at the core of something Americans want' in seeming to move beyond partisanship. And, he added, Senator Obama is 'a likable person who has excited people about wanting to vote who have not voted in the past.”'Huckabee was of course aware that in praising Obama he was recommending himself."

Kristol indicates that while visiting with a friend recently, his friend indicated about Huckabee that he "liked him" and "could be our strongest nominee?" This has to be one of the reasons that Huckabee has been the dark horse running in a race that has brought him to the front in Iowa. People see and hear him and relate. He's a "likable regular guy." He has passion.

Kristol went on to say Huckabee "came up from modest origins. He served as Governor of Arkansas for more than a decade. He fought a successful battle against being overweight. " This says to the voter with out saying it, I grew up with meager means, I rose above it and was successful twice and when I messed up and I realized my mistake and then was successful in doing something about it. It's a testimonial which says, I never had it but I got it, I blew it but I had a second chance. Everyone loves a winner, even when he's willing to admit a mistake and go on.

Kristol recognizes that candidate Huckabee was succesful in Iowa in three things:

1) by attracting "new voters to the caucuses. "
2) by defeating "Mitt Romney by almost two to one,"
3) by defeating "John McCain by better than four to one, among voters under 45."

Kristol goes on to say, that "the conservative establishment is strikingly hostile to Huckabee." I believe he's talking about the National GOP as well each state's GOP where they are sitting on the fence watching and hoping that they will wake up from their world being rock with no clear plan as to how they will overcome this world shifting event. With a Huckabee win, the old guard Republicrats are sitting in front of they're T.V.'s ringing their hands. Did someone say, revolutionary? Lobbyist and politicians love their money and power and will not let go of it without a fight. The first blood has been drawn but like Gov. Huckabee has said before "if you don't like the sight of your own blood, you'd better not get in the fight" and for this reason I believe he knew it would be ugly.

Finally, Kristol says about Huckabee that he is "weaving together a pitch for limited government with a message that government needs to do more to address the concerns of the struggling middle class." Which is what Huckabee means when he talks about small businesses are keeping this country alive and the existing government system has stifled many in oblivion with tons of regulations, mountains of tax code(60,000 pages plus) and grueling corporate taxes.

Iowa got it. Let's hope New Hampshire gets it too!

Barack uses the the word "HOPE" 11 times in his victory speech.

Is he trying to associate himself to the Vertical Politics of Iowan GOP winner Mike Huckabee who is truly from HOPE, Arkansas, and had 40,000 people to come out on a cold winters' night to vote for their candidate in the Iowa Caucus. It has been estimated that nearly 230,000 attended the event. Obama won his Democratic caucus, but how many actually voted for him in numbers since their party doesn't disclose the actual number? Maybe he's associating himself to another candidate from Arkansas-Bill Clinton? He used the word "hope" eleven times in his victory speech last night in Iowa.

Excerpts:

"We are choosing hope over fear."

"Years from now, you'll look back and you'll say that this was the moment, this was the place where America remembered what it means to hope."

"For many months, we've been teased, even derided for talking about hope. But we always knew that hope is not blind optimism. It's not ignoring the enormity of the tasks ahead or the roadblocks that stand in our path. "

"It's not sitting on the sidelines or shirking from a fight. Hope is that thing inside us that insists, despite all the evidence to the contrary, that something better awaits us if we have the courage to reach for it and to work for it and to fight for it. "

"Hope is what I saw in the eyes ........ "
"Hope is what I heard in the voice ........."
"Hope is what led a band of colonists ......."

"Hope -- hope is what ..........."

"Hope is the bedrock of this nation."

I contend that the "Vertical Politics" of candidate Mike Huckabee is working and even Senator Obama is being lifted up as a candidate instead of being pulled down by the message of candidates who seek to divide, destroy and conquer.

He should have added in summary, "HOPE is truly seen in Mike Huckabee." I contend that would have been the only accurate thing he could have said about hope.

The Des Moines Register Newspaper reports from Iowa, state where the 2008 Presidential Caucuses will be held in just 2 days, reports on a poll that maintains Gov. Mike Huckabee's lead at 32% with Mitt Romney behind at 26% and McCain next at 13%.

An Iowan is quoted in the article on her take of the former Governors:"She said she's drawn to Huckabee because he's consistent in his views -- unlike Romney whom she finds untrustworthy because he has shifted positions on issues like abortion. "

The Iowa Caucus is just 3 days away and here in Alabama we haven't been bombarded with all the political bantering that has been going on in Iowa these last few days. Iowans are probably thinking by now, "Let's get the Caucuses over with". They have not only had to endure the normal deluge of television ads that tell why a certain candidate is worthy of being voted for but ads that tell why a candidate should not be voted for.
In today's political climate of mistrust in our elected representatives and government agencies in general, we the people, know that this could backfire on a candidate. Mitt Romney, who has lost his lack luster and dropped in the polls, has played his card and gambled in a desperate move by smearing, distorting and lieing about not only Gov. Mike Huckabee but others as well.
I have observed three things that have emerged during the 2008 Presidential Race that I believe will hold true with you as well. One: Where elected officials and media darlings truly hold their allegiances; Two: What kind of character(morals and values) each have and Three: How far they are willing to go for political gain and power. Gov. Mike Huckabee has not participated in this "tear down and destroy" tactic. He has said at the outset of his campaign, it will be "Vertical Politics" for him. Mike Huckabee WILL Stop the Car and Fix the Flat

Does anyone have the distinct feeling that the OLD GUARD REPUBLICANS have met in those quiet back rooms to discuss who they will support for President in the 2008 election? Those republicans tout being supportive of pro-life and pro-defense candidates and being "for the people", but who will they endorse for the 2008 Presidential Race? With the media darlings and talking heads feeling left out because of the onset of the HUCKABOOM, when their candidates of choice have been left in the dust and a Congress and Senate that are sagging and ineffective with approval ratings to match the shoe size of a grown man, what has them scurrying around like a pack of rats at a cheese party?

It has been said that the candidate with the deepest pockets usually will be able to run the distance in an election cycle with monies given and spent on various advertisements and such. What sets a candidate apart when he has little money coming from the political machine that has existed for years?

Take Senators McCain and Kennedy for example. Two U.S. Senators from two different parties. One a Republican and the other a Democrat. What’s the difference? Just a few months ago, they both sought after the same goal, amnesty for illegal aliens. What’s up with that? Why would two representatives compromise on such a divisive issue right next to an election year that is sure to have dire consequences? Senator Kennedy isn’t running for President but Senator McCain is. Why would a man trying to gain the highest prize in the land commit political suicide by saddling himself with one of the most liberal tax-and-spend Democrats in America? My thought is that Senator McCain made a fatal mistake and it sealed the deal for him to be forever linked to a Liberal Democrat: High Taxing Ted Kennedy. Whatever the reason, this brings me to my next point.

For years, with our consent, The OLD GUARD REPUBLICANS or "Republicrats" have been busy distancing themselves from the things that traditional GOP'ers have considered essential to the viability of the Grand Ol’ Party and the American Way. I believe the words that we are hearing from Presidential Candidate Mike Huckabee and the response from the American people is the embodiment of what has been forgotten and set aside for political gain, party loyalty and gaining power. We have a man before us that has indicated that he stands with us for traditional values while running this marathon and supporting our values regarding, pro-life, pro-defense and military, pro-fairtax, pro-education and everything that is good with the heart of our country in mind.

Someone I know said it like this, "Imagine that a Republican and a Democrat are going down a road arguing about which radio station to listen to. Suddenly, they have a flat tire and continue to drive on the rims with flames and sparks flying up just like an episode of COPS. As they continue arguing about which radio station to listen to, weaving down the road and throwing sparks everywhere, they never notice the sign that says, "BRIDGE OUT!" and it is too late.

Americans, this is a perfect example of the ineffectiveness of our representatives and the liberal slant of the popular media. Vote Mike Huckabee for President. He will stop the car and fix the flat!

Mike Huckabee was on the Factor last night and did a terrific job - when Bill would pipe down and let Huckabee talk, that is! Seriously, when pressed about his Christianity and background as a minister, Gov. Huckabee gave direct answers that were forthright and humble. Anyone watching can see that he's not the fire-breathing fanatic that liberals (and some fellow "conservatives"...) want to paint him as. He's an authentic, consistent Christian who always adheres to his core values, and that's why he can lead our country in a positive direction while narrowing the ideological chasm that has recently divided us from one another!

The Presidential Race is like a Box of Chocolates!

The current Presidential Campaign cycle of '08 appears to have produced an assortment of candidates like a small box of "Whitman's Samplers" chocolate candies. (It is note worthy to recognize that the word 'candidate' has 'candi -date' like 'candy' and 'date'. I guess we are suppose to entertain the idea of voting for any candidate for a period of time before we decide to choose one). Like those boxes of bite-site candies, we've a limited number to choose from and we try them all-knowing that they're all flavored chocolate while some are nutty, some are too sweet and some appear to be just right but not recognizing which one was really "the best" until after it's too late and they're all gone. Let's not miss the opportunity to select "the best" candidate while sampling all the others. After the '08 Presidential Primaries, we may experience that euphoric feeling like we get after eating all those chocolates but not really electing "the best"!

Before we let this happen, we need to put our own selfish interests (not issues) aside while allowing politicians' to be politicians', leaders', to be leaders' and voters' to be voters'.

Yes, she's up to her same ol' bag of tricks and just in time for some Halloween Trick or Treating fun! Hillary flies in on her campaign broom stick and disguises her answer to healthcare with pure socialism in the article. Those of us who've followed the days of Billary, won't be fooled again.

When she speaks of "It's Your Choice" in the article, these are code words for doctors' to extricate(for you liberals that means to "remove") the remaining good sense from The American People after her husband's days in The White House because our taxes are about to hit the roof. Eventhough, we all know that 50% percent of the us pay 90% percent of the taxes beginning at $30,000 thousand dollars. Ssshhh.... don't tell that to those rich working people making $30,000 that their taxes are going up-they might figure out what's really going on. With liberals, it's never OUR CHOICE!

When she uses the term "Good for Small Businesses", it makes one wonder, who is she talking about, which small businesses? The one's that have gone out of business because they couldn't afford to pay their taxes under her husband's astronomical tax increases when he was in office? I believe she means that it's finally her turn, to stick it to SMALL BUSINESSES!
And finally, when you read the part about "Reins in Insurance Companies", here we go again more buzz words for socialism. She's playing good-cop/bad-cop and making those bad 'ol insurance boys look like a bunch of buffoons, while she disguises her treat as glorified health coverage(everyone knows that government has never run anything well) while tricking us into electing her, so we will pay more taxes.

Let's face it, we are being hood-winked again!

Maybe her plan entitled, "Hillary’s American Health Choices Plan" should be renamed, My Fasttrack Scheme to Socalism in the geographical area between Canada and Mexico via your TAXES. This won't offend anyone, will it?

-Continue to Support our President and the troops in our efforts and plans for Iraq and the war.

-Change our energy dependence from oil to other energy resources in 10 years or less and allow for more drilling in the vast areas of Alaska.

-Reverse our Socialistic approach to handing out wage earner dollars by cleaning house of our many wasted government programs and enact the FairTax bringing tax relief to wage earners.

-Close the borders immediately and build a fence.

-Enforce existing immigration policy. The federal government should allow each state to govern their own visitors regarding the illegal issue regarding states’ laws and write legislation that will send infants along with their illegal parents’ back to their country of origin.

-Create an aggressive tracking system for those who are working and visiting our country.

-Allow Stem Cell research ONLY with umbilical cord cells of the mother and not with innocent human life.

-Over turn Roe v. Wade but first make it a law for every pregnant couple to review an ultrasound of their baby. Encourage and make adoption of state side babies and children more available, easy and less costly.

-Allow for school vouchers or at the very minimum return tax payer money to every family who’s child/children are home schooled or attend a school other than tax payer funded government school.

-Recognize that marriage is between 1 man and 1 woman for the furtherance of civil-li-zation and pro-creation of humans to existence for generations to come.

Debate Question-Produced Irrelevant Candidates

If you watched the 2007 Iowa Debate Sunday you would noticed that the "elephant" stepped into the room, the FairTax. The question was asked of each of the GOP Presidential Candidates beginning with Mike Huckabee who has been waving the FairTax flag early on. They were asked if they would support the FairTax if President. Other candidate that said they support it were: Tom Tancredo, Duncan Hunter, Tommy Thompson and John McCain. Though Fred Thompson has flip-flopped on the issue as reported by ABC News he hasn't even declared his candidacy. Two of the "top-tier" candidates-Rudy Guiliani, Mitt Romney as well as others said, "No", and appeared to be like deer in headlights, taken back, acted like the question was a nuisiance and attempted to explain away their support of a "flat tax" system which is much like the out-of-control one we now have in place. If these candidates, especially the top-tier ones, were knowledgable on the FairTax, they would not have given these erroneous answers and been disingenuous to the voters. Maybe they they simply just don't care and want the elephant to quickly leave the room.
